Course materials from the academic years, kept as they were. Teaching was
a small part of the research career — a programming course for biologists
during the PhD, practical classes, and one semester as an invited lecturer
— and the files below are the surviving record of it. Where the archive
itself is silent about where or when something was taught, a provenance
note says so rather than guessing. The slides and sheets can be read in
the viewers on this page; each viewer also links the document directly.
Introduction to Programming using Python
Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência — PhD Programme in Computational Biology (PDBC) · October 2006 (class of 2006)
A first programming course for biologists, taught during my own PhD
year at the Gulbenkian. The proposed solutions for both exercise series
are still marked “(soon)” on the archived page — they were never posted.
Molecular Biosystems course (institution not stated on the archived page) · Undated (archived)
Exercises: (1) Needleman–Wunsch dynamic-programming alignment by hand,
including the semi-global variant; (2) ClustalOmega and LocARNA
structural alignments of let-7 and tRNA sequences; (3) further work on
an upstream-regions dataset.
Authoring & Information Retrieval — lecture slides (aula 13–27)
ISEGI-UNL (Universidade Nova de Lisboa) · Feb–Jul 2012
Slides from my semester as Invited Lecturer at ISEGI-UNL, where I was
co-responsible for Authoring & Information Retrieval — SGML/XML,
DTD/XML Schema, CSS, XSLT/XSL-FO.
